EOS has launched a brand new metallic additive manufacturing coaching programme in collaboration with NASA.
The industrial 3D printing firm’s Additive Minds Academy arm, which gives AM training and coaching, has introduced a Area Act Settlement with the organisation to ship a hands-on Steel AM Grasp Class at EOS Technical Centre in Pflugerville, Texas this November.
The three-day class shall be supervised by Dr. Paul Gradl, Principal Engineer at NASA, and Dr. Omar Mireles, Additive Manufacture R&D Engineer at Zia AM and can cowl metallic AM processes and post-processing strategies, together with laser powder mattress fusion (LPBF), directed vitality disposition (DED), and different superior strategies.
Fabian Alefeld, EOS international director of enterprise improvement and the Additive Minds Academy, stated, “This partnership embodies the facility of public-private collaboration accelerating the adoption and understanding of additive manufacturing. Via our settlement with NASA, we’re delivering unparalleled entry to the experience and applied sciences which might be shaping the way forward for aerospace and superior manufacturing.”
The course is geared in the direction of engineers, researchers, and technical professionals working in aerospace, defence, and different superior manufacturing sectors, although no prior AM information is required. The course is open to twenty members and can embody:
- Overview of solid-state AM processes
- Fingers-on deep dives into the LPBF course of chain
- Idea and sensible classes realized periods
- Fingers-on expertise with EOS M 290, EOS M 300-4, and EOS M 400-4 techniques
- Construct job improvement, post-processing, and lab testing
Earlier this 12 months, EOS was awarded a contract to supply end-to-end laser powder mattress fusion course of coaching for suppliers to the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) initiative in an effort to strengthen AM effectivity and bridge the maritime AM training and workforce hole.
